Passing of side to the great lake I have found some conditions of particular light with some clouds that covered the sun but not all creating some blades of light. Thanks for your attention.

Very good Eugenio. The band of light really gives this an extra element. Long crop suits the composition and space is used well. Best, Brat.

I've had a look at both versions, this one I like better, the panoramic feel gives a sence of traveling into the unknown, far far away, it's a great looking image and it feeds the imagination. Lovely work! ;o)-max-

here is a very interesting stylisised photo. I like the way the different scales or hues of colours make a very good background for the well contrasted boat ! : looking like a particular and original flag. very nice indeed

VERY nice image but really overcompressed ! I can see jpeg atrifact in the see and it really prevents me from getting the best of it ... could you PLEASE re-submit a less compressed version ?

Re-submit to less compressed version and with a small cut of 100 pixels on the width. The original one was of 5.5 Mb. Now it is of 338 Kb. This is of 87 Kb I don't see big differences, but I will probably have to buy me the glasses. : -)

Interesting image, which has even something of "abstract" in its so essential composition, all based on play between lines and colours and reflections. The little coloured ripples on the water contribute to giving me this sensation. This shows your creativity. It's a fine thing.
P.S. Did the ship come from Fraglia della Vela in Riva? ;-)

Very nice picture Eugenio. I like the composition with the beautifull sailingship on this perfect sea, very nice with that sunlight on the water. Colors and lightning looks also great.

Well done!1

Nice one, Eugenio. I like the position of the shilouette of "Siora Veronica" throw the sun blade, but i would prefer more importance at this subject (...bigger). Neverthenless in this light condition is a great work. Ciao, Claudio

Well I'm glad to see Luis and Michiel have come to an understanding. For the record I think they both had helpful information to offer.

Oh yeah! Hi Eugenio,
I like the way the sun cuts across the water in the distance here. An excellent bright line to break up this image. It makes all the difference as I try to visualize this without it.

I'm not a "Fancy Man" and wouldn't know about compression from a bologna sandwich. This looks fine to me. Nice work, Eugenio!

To follow the light Through the Haze at Sea

Eugenio, this is a fantastic take of Mountain and Sea side. One of the best I have seen. The light line created by the clouds on the Sea is a marvellous occurrence. The darkened Sailboat contrasts beautifully with the marine lighter tonal range. The Sun creates another shade of colour for the Sea dividing it in two. A Panoramic vision of very high quality. Fine Art it is this Acqua shot.

I really like this photo. The silhouette of the boat on an almost abstract background makes for a really interesting effect. The overexposure of the part of the water with the sun on it was probably hard to avoid, and eventhough it's a shame it doesn't do much harm to the photo. I do like the close to panoramic format you've chosen here.

However, unfortunately your photo is badly overcompressed! I'm truely amazed that nobody else has noticed this yet. Look at the waves! Look at the shore! Look everywhere!
I've checked, and the photo is only 88 kb in size. This is nowhere near PhotoSIG limits yet. My advise would be to locate the place in your photo editing software, where the compression factor is set for jpegs, and set it to 10%, maximum (note: this does not mean it will only compress 10% in file size!). Check if there's room to set it lower for this photo (your image size will grow as you set the factor lower) and if there is, use that room. This type of photo is sensitive to overcompressing, and the photo is absolutely worth it to be shown in the best possible quality. When you've made a new copy from the original that way (I do hope you have an uncompressed original?) then please, please resubmit. The photo itself is worth a 2 TU at least, the overcompression artifacts have brought that down to the 1 TU I'm giving now.

Thanks for sharing and keep shooting, Michiel

"even though it's a shame" ? "badly overcompressed!" ? Note: There is no shame in trying and in shooting. Disagree a 100%. Note:Michiel, you punished my disagreement of your critique with a Thumb Down but it didn't feel that you actually disagreed with my critique when you gave it a thumb down, was that an act of pure revenge?. Hope not. And could you actually say what in my critique you disagreed with as a matter of courtesy? Thanks. BC/Luis

No need to overreact, nothing personal. This IS A Picture Perfect. Note: Everybody here knows that photos have to be 'COMPRESSED" to be able to fit the required K load according to the TOS. The compression here is excellent. BC/Luis

Read the critique BC. And find out that this photo can be compressed in such a way that NO artifact will be visible. Only 88 of the 650(?) kb have been used as it is. That leaves room for MASSIVE improvement here. But you know that. Why do you claim that you think the compression is excellent here? You're not blind!

You may be right Michiel, but the final word belongs to Eugenio, may be he compressed it from 2MB to 650k as you say and then went down to 89k. At which stage of the overall compression we have captured the photo does not mean that it went through several compressions Michiel, I personally have compressed photos from 4MB to 1MB and then, done further compressions, and its true I must admit, the further you compress the less pixels and resolutions you get. But if I look at this photo I am satisfied with the existing compression and quality which quality is optimal to that specific degree of compression. Of course, this photo would be awesome at 4MB or more. Its all a matter of choice and possibilities Michiel.

michiel, you confuse IMAGE SIZE with FILE SIZE. 360k is the limit for file size.

I think you are right, James. Still, with a maximum of 360 kb my reasoning still stands. Thanks for the correction.

Just for the record: everything from the second "note:" has been added after I reacted. So I'll react to that now:
I was thinking of marking your critique down, because I think it's specifically unhelpful to ignore obvious chances for improvement. Then I started to doubt and removed it, because I thought it might be explained as an aggressive act to keep TD-ing critiques for that. And it seemed that I was right. Revenge even... but revenge for what BC? We had no quarrel before your strange reply to my critique. I think you're the one with feelings of revenge.

Hi Eugenio, nice cropping. I like the composition of that photo. The boat is well pose in the location. Exposure and focus is fine. Just feel that the lighting at the upper of the sea is a bit flat. Still a good photo and thanks for sharing.

Strange and interesting picture Eugenio.I think that the photo is manipulated and the effect I like.I see so much the sky as the sea like a great abstract of the reality. And it is left the important detail of the boat almost like a silhouette.Linear, absolutely in contrasting horizontals and the so beautiful boat.Best regards, marta
